Overview: Amethyst is a member of the quartz family, and found all over the world, for example Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Africa, Canada, Russia and even the United States! It has been viewed as a stone of Royalty, since the beginning of time (once used in crowns, scepters and the rings of bishops). Comes from the Greek word op"un-drunken" as the Greeks believed that Amethyst would prevent intoxication, calm anger and relieve frustrated passions.
